14-Year Old Boy Seriously Injured When Hit By Car Near White Center

The King County Sheriff’s Department says that a 14 year-old boy was seriously injured when struck by a pick-up truck about 12:30pm on Saturday, Jan. 15th, in the 10800 block of 26th Ave SW in an unincorporated area of North Highline.

Investigating detectives believe the boy came running out of a driveway and into the street. He was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram pick-up driven by a 21-year old man, who was not able to stop or avoid the boy. The man lives several blocks from the scene of the accident.

Detectives do not believe there were any contributing factors in the accident, such as alcohol or drugs.

I just wanted to update you on the status of this poor little boy. He has been in the ICU at Harborview since the time of the accident, and is not expected to make it. He has irreversable brain damage and the doctors are saying it is just a matter of time. This is a very sad story…The young man is autistic being raised by his single father…this is really putting a financial strain on the family as the father has not been able to work since the day of the accident, so there is no income coming into the house. If there is a way to set up some kind of donation fund that people could donate to in order to help with the mounting hospital bills and the pending funeral costs that would be great!! A very sad out come from a tragic accident.

I just wanted to say Thankk You to everyone that show their support for the Allen Family, it was very much appreciated. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as this time is still very difficult for them.
Donations are still needed as the expenses are still mounting!! I am sorry to say that it seems like people have put this tragic event out of their minds, just because the Memorial Service was already held. The Memorial Service does not mark the end of Derek’s time of need, he still is in need of assistance to cover all the expenses that he is still facing. Please if you are able to help, do so!!!
