Here’s more from a press release:

A Baker’s Dozen of White Center and West Seattle’s own amazing urban food sources will be on display, showcasing everything from heirloom varietals to how-to get heat-loving plants to thrive in our cool climate. From large plots to small spaces, the Tour allows gardeners to learn, network and be inspired by the possibilities. Gardeners will be available to answer your questions about how to grow your own food. The gardens are located throughout the peninsula – from White Center to Genesee to the Junction, with everything from chickens to chicory to chard. Join Seattle City Council President Richard Conlin and food activist Viki Sonntag for the grand opening of the Community Orchard of West Seattle at noon.

*Note: If you would like to attend the Edible Garden Tour, but are unable to for financial reasons, we have a limited number of Volunteer spaces available. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
