VIDEO/PHOTOS: King County Sheriff’s Cruiser Crashes After Chase


UPDATE 4/17/12 7:45 p.m.: A King County Sheriff’s cruiser crashed with a truck after a chase Tuesday afternoon (April 17), and Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office sent us this update:

Deputy spotted stolen vehicle near SW 98 and 15 SW. Vehicle fled northbound. At 15th and SW Henderson the deputy’s car collided with a truck that was not involved in the pursuit. The deputy and the woman in the truck both had minor injuries. The 57 year old woman was taken to Harborview, the deputy went to Highline hospital.

Suspect vehicle continued northbound for a block or 2 and the suspects (2) fled. The female passenger was apprehended and we are still looking for the driver who is described as an Asian or Hispanic male, possibly in his teens.

Our Major accident response unit is investigating the accident!

PREVIOUSLY: A WCB Reader sent the following photos and video, showing the end result of a chase between a King County Sheriff’s cruiser and a pickup truck (click images to see larger versions):

“Police chased a car northbound on 15th Ave SW until they reached SW Henderson,” the Reader said. “The Perp got away but KC Police car slammed broadside into pickup truck with a woman driving. She didn’t seem injured.”

We’re checking on the condition of the police officer and will update this post as soon as we learn more.
