Saturday Afternoon House Fire in White Center Claims Life of Woman

A house fire in the 9800 block of 28th Ave SW (map below) on Saturday claimed the life of a woman in her 70s, according to reports.

Firefighters from Seattle and Burien responded to reports of smoke coming from the house at 4:42 p.m.; North Highline arrived a short time later, and the fire was put down in about 15 minutes.

The fire apparently began in the living room of the home, then spread into the crawl space.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the victim has not yet been identified.
