PHOTOS: Memorial for White Center Blog Writer Margaret Ryan Unveiled

Around 30 or so of her friends, family and acquaintances gathered on the southeast corner of 16th and Roxbury Saturday afternoon (Dec. 1) to unveil a new memorial for murdered White Center Blog Writer/Sales Rep Margaret Ryan.

Margaret’s son Patrick Lamb spoke, and one of the stories he told onlookers was how his Mom would probably blush at such a public honor, then – to much laughter – quickly turn around and loudly critique the plaque in front of everyone.

Other stories were shared, songs and carols were sung, and closure was granted to all those stricken by grief (including us) by this terrible local tragedy.

The accused killer – Margaret’s son Brodie Lamb, 42 – was arraigned Thursday (Nov. 29) and pleaded ‘not guilty’ to a charge of Murder in the First Degree for her alleged stabbing death on Nov. 12 in White Center (read some of our previous coverage here).

Brodie remains in jail with bail set at $2 million, and a case setting hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.

WCB Founder/Publisher Scott Schaefer was also there Saturday (he spoke briefly), and he took these photos – click images to see larger versions:

I love how the plaque and the rest of the corner turned out! The entire area looks great and is a very nice tribute to Margaret. I also love how the community came together to make this happen.
