‘Cove to Clover’ fundraiser crawling & running through south end this weekend
The annual Cove to Clover fundraiser run will take place in the south end this weekend, with a ‘Snake (pub) Crawl’ Friday night, ‘Snake (carbo load) Dinner’ Saturday night, and the big race on Sunday, April 28.
Events take place throughout Burien, Normandy Park and Des Moines all weekend, with the 5K starting at Noon Sunday at the Normandy Park Cove and the 10K at Des Moines Beach Bark.
“This is like no other race you have run,” read a note on the event website. “It is hard; suffering is the name of the game as you climb and climb up the ominously named ‘Snake Hill.’ Indeed, it is brutal but at the top of the hill runners are rewarded with the ethereal music of a Highland piper and beautiful views of Puget Sound. When we suffer together, we emerge more united.”
A runner obstacle for every race; set amidst a Celtic battle re-enactment. Yes, you can go around but runners are encouraged to participate. For certain, the bragging rights go with tackling “The Uprising” while maintaining your lead. You’ll have to join us on race day to fully appreciate all the elements that make up “The Uprising”!
