Highline Public Schools announced Friday (June 7) that Evergreen Campus Athletic Director Mark Cross has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) as a Certified Athletic Administrator.

To earn this distinction, Mark has demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of Mark’s educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination.

“Mark is a great example of a professional who works each and every day to benefit student athletes,” said Highline Public Schools Director of Athletics Terri McMahan. “I am proud of his accomplishment. Mark serves as an example for other athletic directors in our district and around the state for putting forth the effort to complete this process early in his career.

Mark is in his first year as athletic director at Evergreen Campus. He holds a masters in Athletics Administration from Ohio University and an undergraduate degree in physical education and health from Central Washington University.

Mark is one of an elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism.

The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 7,600 individual members. It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.
