The Salvation Army in White Center last week helped local needy kids with their back-to-school shopping.

Generously funded by Mrs. Jean Renny, each child received a gift card valued at $200, and was helped by a volunteer to select clothing for the new school year.

This included:

  • 80 low-income kids from the White Center area
  • Major Raymond Erickson-King and Captain Jennifer Erickson-King, Salvation Army Officers in Charge of White Center programs
  • The event took place on Thursday, Aug. 28 at JCPenney at Westfield Southcenter

The kids chosen for the generous donation were selected by The Salvation Army, using State and Federal guidelines to assess need. All kids are students in Seattle public schools (grades K – 12), and most live and attend school in the White Center area.

For some of these students, it was their first experience shopping for their own clothes.

You can still donate for this cause by clicking here.
