Student struck by car near Evergreen Campus in White Center Friday

On Friday (Nov. 6), a student was struck by a car when crossing the street near the Evergreen Campus, located at 830 SW 116th Street in White Center, according to an alert sent out by Highline Public Schools.

Thankfully, the student was not seriously injured.

It is unknown what the cause of the accident was, the the district hinted at distracted walking or driving:

“We ask that you talk with your children about safety practices including paying close attention to traffic, even if they are in a crosswalk,” the district said in an announcement. “When crossing streets, everyone needs to pay attention to their surroundings. That includes putting away phones and other distractions to watch for cars in the area. And, drivers should be particularly watchful around schools.”
