Cascade Bicycle Club building traffic garden at Dick Thurnau Park; meeting Jan. 14

In collaboration with King County Parks, White Center CDA, the YES Foundation and other community partners, Cascade Bicycle Club is building a traffic garden in Dick Thurnau Memorial Park.

What’s a traffic garden? If you haven’t heard of a traffic garden, it is a simulated streetscape for youth and adults to practice bike handling and traffic safety, before challenging their skills on real roadways with motor traffic. Once the facility is built, Cascade will offer youth and adult bicycling programs at the traffic garden.

On Thursday Jan. 14, 2016, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. a public meeting will be held to collect input on the proposed project from local residents. This meeting will be held at the TAF Bethaday Community Learning Space (605 SW 108th St, Seattle, WA 98146).

“Please join us for this important meeting about our exciting new project and give feedback on design proposals! We will provide refreshments.”

WHEN: Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

WHERE: TAF Bethaday Community Learning Space, 605 SW 108th Street

Very good work everyone. Dick would have loved this. Our CDA and Yes Founation making it happen again. And parents will be happy because kids will become safer bike riders.
