Police find woman’s body in White Center home who had ‘been dead for weeks’

The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, they responded to a call of a welfare check at a residence in the 1800 block of SW 98th Street (map below), where they found the body of a deceased female.

Police say that the victim “appeared to have been dead for weeks.”

A neighbor told police that the front door to the residence had been open for at least a day, and they had not seen the female resident for a while.

Deputies responded and once inside they found the resident, who appeared to have been dead for weeks.

Some windows had been open on the house and it appeared as though someone had gone through drawers and other items, police said.

“We don’t know if this occurred before or after the death of the woman,” Sgt. Cindi West told The White Center Blog.

The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined by the Medical Examiner, and this case is still under investigation.

I am the neighbor who called KCPD to ask for a welfare check on this woman. I never spoke to her, I never knew her name. In fact, I live two blocks away but I pass her home (near Key Bank)every day and hadn’t seen her for months, not weeks. Also, her windows were broken out, glass everywhere . Now they are border up! This woman lived alone, never had visitors and may have had mental issues. Please, watch out for eachother, and never hesitate to call the police if you feel that someone may be in danger.

I live down the street from this woman’s house and used to see her out walking sometimes. I tried to say hello to her on several occasions but she always ignored me, even if I waved to her. I was concerned about her mental state as well. I am haunted by the thought of what caused her demise and hope we get an update from KCPD.
