King County Sheriff’s Deputy hits pedestrian in crosswalk Monday

The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Monday (Oct. 31) at around 5:30 p.m., a deputy struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk in White Center.

The deputy was driving a dark, unmarked SUV northbound on 8th Ave SW when he stopped at the red light at Roxbury (map below).

When the light turned green the deputy made a left turn and struck a man that was in the crosswalk, crossing Roxbury from south to north, Sgt. Cindi West told The White Center Blog.

Police said that the deputy did not see the pedestrian.

The man had minor injuries but was taken to Harborview as a precaution, then was released later Monday night.

An investigation is still ongoing.
