VIDEO: Teachers/Staff at Southern Heights send message to students

Teachers and Staff at Southern Heights Elementary School – located at 11249 14th Ave S. in White Center – greeted students Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, with a “strong message” welcoming them, telling them “You are safe, valued and accepted”:

This was part of an ongoing campaign that Highline Public Schools has been putting on at its schools, to show students that:

“Highline is committed to ensuring that our students feel safe, welcomed and respected at school. This means we will continue to intervene when we see or hear offensive, bigoted words and actions,” according to Superintendent Susan Enfield.

“I was in tears after teaching my class at Southern Heights elementary school in White Center,” Toyia Taylor said on Facebook. “As I left I saw teachers and administrators welcoming immigrant families back to school. The goal was to let families know the school stands with them 100% through these difficult times.”
