Evergreen High student finally gets his diploma – more than 50 years later

Ron Slater, a former Evergreen High School student, finally received his high school diploma this week – more than 50 years after dropping out of high school to join the military.

Slater, a Navy veteran, is 74-years old.

His diploma was granted through ‘Operation’ Recognition in acknowledgement of his military service and post-secondary education he pursued later.

On Tuesday night, he joined other graduates from Arts & Academics Academy from White Center’s Evergreen High campus. He received his diploma, and also offered some words of advice to the students  – here’s a video from KIRO7:
