34th Dems hosting debate between Joe Nguyen and Shannon Braddock Wed.

The 34th Legislative District Democrats will be hosting a “Lincoln Douglas-style” debate with the two candidates for State Senate – Joe Nguyen and Shannon Braddock – this Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Hall at Fauntleroy in West Seattle.

Nguyen received 14,019 votes/31.08 % against Braddock’s 11,114/24.64% in the Aug. 7 Primary Election. The General Election will be Nov. 6.

“The 34th Legislative District is going to be one of the most exciting King County races this fall,” organizers said. “The Democratic Party is facing an existential crisis all over the country, and the progressive wing of the party is fed up with the current status quo. There is no race more emblematic of this division in King County than the race for the State Senate in the 34th LD which includes West Seattle, Burien, White Center and Vashon/Maury Island.”

Lincoln Douglas style debates are similar to the format used in high school debate competitions, allowing candidates the opportunity to cross examine one another and respond to claims made during the debate.

The Hall at Fauntleroy is located at 9131 California Ave SW:
