Brush fire displaces 16 from White Center apartments Wednesday afternoon


A brush fire accelerated by high winds threatened apartments in the 10700 block of 14th Ave SW in White Center Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 20.

This quickly became a 2-alarm fire, then was upgrade to a 3-alarm.

Several apartments suffered damage, and 16 people – 12 adults and 4 children – were displaced.

The Red Cross is sending volunteers to help.

A Seattle firefighter was sent to the hospital due to injuries, while two others were treated but not transported; all have non-life threatening issues.

Cause of the fire has not yet been reported.
