Coalition for Drug-Free Youth Community Meeting will be Thursday, May 9

All are invited to a Free Community Event focused on White Center and Burien, being held on Thursday, May 9 at the Bethaday Community Learning Space:

Making Strides toward Healthier, Drug-Free Youth and Communities

This will be an informative evening highlighting the achievements of the Coalition for Drug-Free Youth, honoring the Cascade Middle School Prevention Team’s successes, and bringing guest speakers to talk about issues affecting our communities including marijuana, vaping and other drug use.

  • Opening Address: Mayor Jimmy Matta, City of Burien
  • Special Recognition of the Cascade Middle School Prevention Team
  • Keynote Presentation: Senator Joe Nguyen, Washington State 34th Legislative District
  • What Youth are Telling us about Marijuana: Robin Haguewood, Public Health – Seattle & King County
  • Panel Discussion
    • Taylor Freyberg, Puget Sound Educational Service District
    • Kisa Hendrickson, Highline Public Schools
    • Erin James, King County Department of Community and Human Services  Scott Somers, Undersheriff, King County Sheriff’s Department
