VIDEO: Evergreen High School Alum makes video for White Center Food Bank
Evergreen High School alumni Vannra Yan, who's also a graduate from the Art Institute of Seattle, recently produced a Public Service Announcement video for the White Center Food Bank: [youtube]http://youtu.be/BZgG_U3-QwE[/youtube] He is currently enrolled at Bellevue College, where he's in the Digital Media Arts program. "I use the latest technology in cinema camera," he said. "All my projects will be shot in the highest quality HD and color graded in professional video editing suites to give cinematic images." Vannra also produced the New Start PSA for Mark Farrell when he was a student at the Art Institute of Seattle a few years ago.

Mount View Elementary teacher Jamie Ewing has been named a 2014 Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) LearningMedia Digital Innovator. The fifth-grade teacher is the only Washington State educator among the 100 teachers from around the country selected this year. Ewing was selected by PBS for his dedication and passion for innovative teaching practices that integrate digital media and technology in the classroom. King County Sheriff’s detectives have released a sketch of a man that violently assaulted and raped a woman earlier this month. On Friday, March 7, just after midnight the victim was walking eastbound on the south side of Roxbury near 24th Ave. She was approached by a black male who asked her for a cigarette. The victim gave the suspect a cigarette when the suspect suddenly dragged her to a nearby lot where he punched her repeatedly then sexually assaulted her. Local Girl Scouts donate 180 pounds of cookies to White Center Food Bank
The cookie selling season may be over, but that does not mean cookie-related work is done for one local Girl Scout Troop, who spent time Monday night (March 24) donating 180 pounds of the goodies to the White Center Food Bank. Troop #42263 had seven young ladies, ages 8-12, selling cookies this year. Collectively they sold over 7100 boxes of cookies, which included an impressive 296 boxes in donations for the food bank. SeaTac man arrested in connection with Burien teen’s death in White Center
Friday afternoon (March 21), King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives arrested an 18-year old SeaTac man in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year old Burien boy in White Center Wednesday night (March 19; read our previous coverage here). Police say that they are not seeking any other suspects; however, they are encouraging additional witnesses of the shooting to come forward and contact the King County Sheriff’s Office by calling (206) 296-3311.
