One person is dead and another injured after a shooting early Sunday, July 20, 2025 near a busy White Center intersection, the King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Deputies responded just after midnight to the area of SW 98th Street and 16th Ave SW, following reports of gunfire.

According to investigators, the incident began when a suspected DUI driver crashed into a parked car.

A confrontation broke out shortly after the collision, escalating into gunfire. Two individuals were shot.

Sadly, one victim later died from their injuries, while the other is expected to survive, authorities said.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting and is believed to be associated with the DUI driver.

The King County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of the victims or the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.
