The White Center Food Bank will host its annual Cultivating Community Dinner and Auction on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, with proceeds supporting food security programs for families across the area.
The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and will feature food from local restaurants, cultural performances by the Khmer Community of Seattle King County Dance Group, and a discussion on community needs with Rep. Brianna Thomas and King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda.
“In the wake of many cuts to safety net programs and rising costs across all sectors, we continue to see an increase in need in our community,” the food bank said in its event announcement. “With your help we can continue to work towards addressing food security for our neighbors, while also making sure to celebrate the diversity of the community we serve.”
The White Center Food Bank began in the mid-1970s to support families during an economic downturn. Today, its programs include daytime and seniors-only food distributions, expanded home deliveries, a mobile food bank serving three senior housing sites, pop-up food pantries, a Baby Pantry, and a cultural foods program.
In 2024, the nonprofit served 13,618 individuals across 137,337 visits and distributed more than 1.6 million pounds of food. So far in 2025, household visits have increased by 20 percent, according to the organization.
