Public Health – Seattle & King County

As a dentist with Public Health – Seattle & King County, I see firsthand how important early dental care is for kids’ overall health. Strong teeth don’t just make it easier for children to eat, speak, and concentrate in school, they also build confidence that can last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, dental care isn’t always easy for families to access. Tooth decay remains one of the most common chronic conditions among children, and untreated cavities can lead to pain and even infections that spread to the whole body. The good news is that with regular dental care, most dental problems can be prevented.

Upcoming Free Dental Clinics

That’s why Public Health is excited to host two upcoming free dental clinics for kids who are enrolled in or eligible for Apple Health/Medicaid.  These two free dental clinics will be held at the Skyway Resource Center:

  • Saturday, Oct. 4
  • Saturday, Dec. 6

Visit kingcounty.gov/abcd or call 1-800-756-5437 to make an appointment and learn more about these free youth dental clinics.

At these clinics, kids receive free dental checkups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and referrals for follow-up care, if needed. Our goal is to make it simple for families to get their children the preventive care they deserve – in a welcoming, community-based setting.

And, even if you can’t attend one of these two events, if you have a child who is eligible for Apple Health/Medicaid and doesn’t currently have a dental provider, our Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (“ABCD”) program can help you find a dentist that will accept your insurance.

For more information, visit kingcounty.gov/abcd or call us at: 1-800-756-5437.

Wishing you healthy smiles and a healthy body this fall!
