A Burien Police pursuit that ended with a PIT maneuver and an arrest is now the centerpiece of a blunt warning from the King County Sheriff’s Office: “don’t drink and drive.”
The sheriff’s office shared the message in a video posted Monday morning, Nov. 2 using the Oct. 26 case to show what happens when deputies and officers spot an impaired driver on the road.
“Don’t drink and drive. Just don’t,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “Cause if we see you doing it, we will make every attempt to get you off the street.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Burien Police officers pursued the driver in the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 26 before using a PIT maneuver to stop the car and making an arrest at SW Webster Street and 16th Ave SW in West Seattle (map below).
The man was booked on DUI, eluding a police officer, possession of narcotics and possession of a stolen car, the sheriff’s office said. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has since charged him with two felonies, possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to elude police.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the man in the post, and no additional details about the pursuit were provided.
