King County Sheriff’s Officers recently arrested two suspected catalytic converter thieves in White Center:

We know no community has been untouched by catalytic converter thefts. We are proud to feature this May arrest of two suspects, thanks to a 911-call and outstanding work by King County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

On Saturday, May 29, 2021 around 4:45 a.m., deputies responded to the 11200 block of 1st Ave S. in White Center (map below) after a person observed a suspicious male under a car.

Moments after they left the scene, the suspects were spotted and followed by a responding deputy, who initiated a traffic stop. Two men in the vehicle were detained and consent was given to search their sedan.

The tools in the trunk left little doubt these suspects were prepared to steal catalytic converters. Saws, cutters, blades and a car jack were found. Two stolen converters were also found in the car.

Both men were booked into the King County Jail for Possession of Stolen Property. Nearly one week later, one remains there on an unrelated, no-bail burglary warrant.

Thanks to this early morning 911-call, two thieves spent Memorial Day weekend in jail instead of committing more property crimes. Arrests like these send a message that southwest King County is no place to steal converters or anything else.

In King County, every call counts.
