The King County Sheriff’s Office says that a recent trip to the store for a bag of ice turned into a major party foul for this driver:

On June 26, 2021 at 9:20 p.m., King County deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of SW 102nd Street in White Center (map below) for a car crash.

Arriving deputies were met by multiple people attending a party next door to where the collision occurred. A deputy spoke with a male standing by the vehicle, and he identified himself as the driver.

When asked how the collision occurred, the driver told deputies that he went to get more ice for the party and hit a large rock by the side of the road. The rock, he said, damaged the steering causing him to collide with the side of a house.

Deputies asked the driver how much he had to drink. The driver admitted to drinking but offered no details. The deputy asked if he would be willing to take a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (FST), but the driver refused because – and we quote – “I’m too drunk and would fail.” He admitted to deputies that he had been “drinking a lot, but the police can’t do anything about it because I wasn’t caught while driving the vehicle.” Oh my. That is incorrect. Man admits to driving. Man admits to crashing. Man admits to drinking. Man is now in handcuffs.

When witnessing their fellow partygoer getting arrested, the crowd began to get angry and yell obscenities at the deputies. Realizing the situation was growing volatile, they called for backup to assist them. Once more deputies arrived they were able to de-escalate the situation.

The driver also became aggressive, but that soon ended when he was booked in to the King County Jail on Driving Under the Influence and Obstruction charges.
