Anti-Hate Alaska Junction will be holding ‘Bystander Intervention Workshops,’ starting this Saturday, Mar. 19,  2022.

This will be the first of four workshops, which are intended “to reduce hate in our neighborhood.”

Workshops are free, but donations are accepted.

The workshop leader reviews brain science, including the reality of emotional responses, their effect on brain chemistry and the resulting triggering of our fight/flight/freeze survival responses.

Participants apply new knowledge and practice new skills by running scenarios of hate-based interactions with the goal of de-escalating the situation.

Working as an aggressor, a target, or an intervening bystander, participants learn by doing, not by listening.

Four workshops are scheduled for 2022 – the first two are:

    • Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Walmesley Center, 7000 35th Ave SW, from 1-4 pm. $15.00. Call 206-935-0358 to register.
    • Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 1 – 4 p.m. at Admiral Congregational Church, 4320 SW Hill Street, Seattle.
    • Two more workshops are scheduled in the University district, one on May 21, 2022 and one in the autumn,
