[EDITOR’S NOTEThe following is a Letter to the Editor, submitted by a verified resident. It does not necessarily reflect the opinions of South King Media, nor its staff:]

As a parent of a 1st grader (3rd year at the school) going to Holy Family Bilingual Catholic School, I wanted to give a brief overview of the school and its ties to the community.

We have lived in the White Center area for approximately 15 years, and prior to my daughter going to Holy Family, I probably drove by the school hundreds of times in my daily commute to work.

Our family feels that is a great school for a bunch of reasons, but specifically the following come to mind:

  1. Good focus on academics.
  2. Safe and nurturing environment for the students.
  3. Very good parental/teacher involvement, and sense of community within the school.

A topic I have tasked myself with is broadening the sense of community in the school to neighboring businesses in the local area.

One of the major components has been, and will always continue to be fundraising.

Almost half of the students that attend the school require and/or receive some sort of financial aid.

To that end, I wanted to highlight a KEY EVENT we have every year to raise money for the school.

The next big event we have is our Annual Gala – April 29th in the Gymnasium.

Details on the GALA can be found using the following link:

We are actively soliciting donations, and trying to foster the sense of community within the White Center area.

Thank you
Tim O’Brien
