From our friends at WABI Burien:

This month the WABI Weekday Walkers will travel to West Seattle on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, to enjoy a three-way treat: the Rose Garden, Arboretum, and Chinese Garden located on the campus of South Seattle College, and all are invited.

The Rose Garden and Arboretum are in full bloom and are directly adjacent to the Chinese Garden, which has been called “Seattle’s hidden gem.”

STARTING AT 10AM, we’ll meet south of the campus at the Riverview Playfield (address below) and walk along a wooded path (part of the West Duwamish Greenbelt trail system) to the campus. We’ll cross the campus and then loop through the Rose Garden, Arboretum, and Chinese Garden before returning to the starting point. The total distance is about 3 miles on a variety of surfaces: wooded trail, gravel pathway, and paved sidewalks. There are some ups and downs along the way, but nothing too strenuous. We expect the walk to take 75-90 minutes, including time to enjoy the many botanical delights.

The Seattle Chinese Garden is dedicated to “showcasing the rich heritage of Chinese arts and culture to our visitors by building, operating, and sustaining a Sichuan-style Chinese Garden that serves as a bridge of friendship between our region and Chinese people around the world.” [https://www.seattlechinesegarden.org/]
