King County Parks will host families for a summer of parks and recreation youth programs – including free Sack Lunches for kids under 18 – in White Center and Skyway.
Recreation Aides support Summer Sack Lunch sites and lead recreational activities like games, arts and crafts, and athletics for groups of children and teens in a variety of settings.
During the summer of 2024 you can catch Rec Aides at three locations:
- Steve Cox Memorial Park Community Center (1321 SW 102nd St 98146) July 1 – Aug. 16, 2024: Mondays – Fridays from Noon – 2 p.m.
- Skyway Park Picnic Shelter (12010 71st Ave S 98178) July 2 – Aug. 15: Tuesdays and Thursdays from Noon – 2 p.m.
- Thurnau Memorial Park Picnic Shelter (11050 10th Ave SW 98146) July 1 – Aug. 16: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:30 – 2 p.m.
Summer Sack Lunch is sponsored by the teens and staff of the White Center Teen Program. The WCTP offers free recreational, educational, and social enrichment programming to youth ages 12-19 every Tuesday – Saturday from 3-8 p.m.
The WCTPRecreation Aide Program provides leadership training and first-time employment opportunity to youth in Skyway and White Center.
