The 10th Annual Peace in the Hood Job and Resource Fair will return to White Center on Wednesday, June 3, offering employment opportunities, mentorship, and community resources for young people ages 16 to 24.

The event is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Steve Cox Memorial Park, located at 1321 SW 102nd Street (map below).

Organizers said more than 200 youth, 20 employers, and 10 resource providers are expected to participate in this year’s event.

The fair is presented through a partnership between the Workforce Development Council, Southwest Youth and Family Services, YWCA of Greenbridge, and the King County Parks and Recreation White Center Teen Program.

In addition to job opportunities, participants will have access to resume and employment application assistance ahead of the event. Select employers will also conduct on site interviews during the fair.

Community partners will also host the annual Peace in the Hood youth basketball tournament for ages 12 to 18 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the park’s outdoor basketball courts.

Organizers said the basketball tournament has become one of the event’s most popular attractions.

Additional event details are available through the White Center Teen Program website.
