Fishnets, ready. Rice Popcorn, ready. Des Moines, ready? The 1st-ever “Rocky Horror Picture Show” has added a third performance – a Sunday matinee on Oct. 25 now joins Friday and Saturday nights at the Des Moines Theater.
Hosted by Mary Cockins of Haus Of Mary Opal, presented with GPSBA, in partnership with The Des Moines Theater, the event kicks off with some fabulous performers from the Greater Puget Sound/Cascadia region, followed by a fully-licensed screening of the show – with prop bags available for purchase at the door! Our Sunday show pairs the cult-classic film with a full live shadow cast. Expect call-backs, confetti, costumes and the kind of audience participation that turns strangers into a chorus line.
Three chances to give yourself over to absolute pleasure
That’s just 444 seats across the whole weekend. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

More than a movie — a whole night out
This isn’t sit-down-and-shush cinema. Every show brings a lineup of local performers, beer, wine & booze from Wally’s Chowder House Bar, tasty treats and nibbles from Fromage Charcuterie Bar (@fromagebar) and Diane’s Dreamy Delights (dddsea.com). As well as The Des Moines Theater packed with people in their finest corsets, fishnets, lab coats, and rubber gloves!
Haus of Mary Opal brings your hostess Mary Cockins to the stage for Friday – with Sativa the Queen (@sativathequeen) on Saturday – for live lip-sync numbers, drag, burlesque, and dancing, before we kick-off a full screening of the show! Come in costume and grab a prop bag at the door. Every prop bag sold benefits Waterland Pride.

🔍 Psst… want a secret ticket discount?
Our performers are hiding goodies! Every performer has their own unique discount code for single tickets, and the only way to find it is to follow them. Stalk (lovingly!) @pam_jobb, @theindiescent, @sativathequeen, @TheMorgueAnne, @xoxocoda, @thekymera666 and the hostess herself, @marycockins. Find a code, use it at GPSBA.org, and save on your seats.
Pro tip: follow them all and pick your favorite queen to support. It’s just a jump to the left… and a click to the right. Follow, find, save. Then do the Time Warp again!
Sunday’s shadow cast: Riff Raff’s Street Rats. This all-inclusive volunteer troupe performs Rocky Horror across Washington and Oregon and uses more than half of its performances to raise money for Northwest nonprofits. They bring the full immersive experience: dance, yell, throw things and play along as the cast acts out the film around you.
Tickets
Tickets are on sale now at GPSBA.org. Friday and Saturday are expected to sell out first, and the Sunday matinee is the best deal in town at $25.

Part of a bigger moment in Des Moines
Rocky Horror caps a busy year of community programming from GPSBA. The alliance created Sip & Shop and the Roper Romp, partnered with the Des Moines Theater and hosted the All Dolly tribute night, supported local businesses during FIFA season, and runs ongoing night markets at the Des Moines Theater.
Every ticket keeps dollars on Marine View Drive — in local restaurants, bars, shops and the theater itself — and puts Des Moines on the map as a destination for one-of-a-kind nights out.
See you in 2027
This is the first annual show, not the last. Rocky Horror is planned as a yearly tradition and the kickoff to Haus of Mary Opal’s 2027 season of events. Lookout for more information on our socials and email marketing. Expect to see some delights from the 70s-90s! Be sure to bookmark – HausOfMO.com

From the organizers
“We added a third event because our community told us we needed to make space for EVERYONE! Des Moines told us loud and clear: this town is ready for lights, cameras, and fishnets! Now we want every seat filled, every prop bag sold and every voice sing-shouting along!” said Dave Hinshaw, aka Mary Cockins of Haus Of Mary Opal (hausofmo.com).
