UPDATE Dec. 17, 2025, 12:15 p.m.: Evergreen High School transitioned from a Lockdown to a “Hold” status on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 17 after law enforcement advised it was safe to do so, according to Highline Public Schools.

“The Hold action is used when the hallways in the school need to remain clear,” the district said. “Classroom learning still takes place as normal during a Hold, but students may not be able to change classes until after the Hold has been lifted.”

Earlier, the school was placed under lockdown, with local law enforcement on campus conducting an active investigation, according to Highline Public Schools.

Initial reports indicated that three students were detained and that police found two guns.

District officials urged families and community members not to come to the school or contact the campus or district offices while the investigation continues.

“Please do not come to the school or call the school or district office,” Highline Public Schools said in a statement. “This is an active investigation. Coming to campus distracts law enforcement and staff from keeping students safe.”

All students and staff are following emergency procedures, the district added.
