A man found dead near a fire in the White Center Pond Natural Area on Oct. 19 has been identified as Ghe Ma Gi Cham, 55, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

His cause of death remains pending.

The medical examiner’s report lists the incident location as outdoors near SW 100th Street and 13th Ave SW in White Center.

As we previously reported, fire crews responding to a reported illegal burn discovered Cham’s body nearby after extinguishing the fire, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The discovery prompted a Major Crimes death investigation. In the initial report, authorities did not say whether the death was connected to the fire.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency, according to the medical examiner.
