Several community events will be happening this month at Roxhill Park and Dragonfly Pavilion Park.

Birds of Roxhill Park
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Location: Roxhill Park (9234 29th Ave SW, Seattle 98126)

Discover your local birds, learn about how to identify them, and when and where to find them. The fall migration is a great time to view the many birds of our area as they head south for the winter. Join Seattle Audubon’s Master Birders on:

Instead of hiking to see the birds, you sit still and let the birds come to you. Participants are encouraged to drop by at any time ad stay for as long as they like. This event is located in a grassy area, and anyone is welcome to bring a folding chair and get comfy. No registration needed. Please leave pets at home.

Bird Walk
Saturday, Oct. 29, 9 – 11 a.m.

Location: Roxhill Park (9234 29th Ave SW, Seattle 98126)

Take a walk with Etta Cosey through the park’s natural area, observing and identifying our local birds that visit and live in the park along with their habitat choices for food, nesting and roosting needs. Learn more about their migrations as they move to their southern winter locations.

Restoration Volunteer Event at Roxhill for Duwamish Alive!
Saturday, Oct. 15, – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Location: Roxhill Park (9234 29th Ave SW, Seattle 98126)

Come and meet the new Forest Steward of Roxhill Park. As part of the Duwamish Alive! celebration, they’ll be leading volunteers in cleaning up the park and caring for the native plants. This will involve removing invasive plants to give the native ones room to grow. Expect to work hard and get dirty! Connecting to Longfellow Creek
Saturday, Oct. 22, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Dragonfly Pavilion Park (4111 28th Ave SW, Seattle 98106)

In celebration of Seattle Forest Week, join us for this family friendly event for all ages, to learn more about the local ecosystem of Longfellow Creek – including water, plants, and wildlife and what we can do to keep the creek healthy. Local organizations will have information on display, in addition to an art activity and music. This event will also include a guided walk to explore the creek trail at 11:00am, where we will be looking for returning Coho salmon and lots more! No registration needed.
